Our Retail brands include Mitre 10, Home Timber & Hardware, True Value andThrifty Link we employ 3,500 staff across our 150-store network.

Role Overview

As CFO of Independent Hardware Group, you will be responsible for overseeing and directing all financial activities of the organization. You will play a crucial role in our strategic direction, optimizing financial performance, and ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the company. You will report directly to the CEO of the Independent Hardware Group and collaborate closely with the executive team and Metcash’s finance division to align financial goals with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Strategy & Planning:Develop and execute financial strategies that support IHG’s long-term growth and operational objectives. Provide insightful analysis and recommendations to the executive team and Metcash.
  • Financial Management: Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management. Ensure accuracy and compliance with financial regulations and standards.
  • Performance Analysis: Analyse financial performance and key metrics, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities. Drive performance improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate financial results, strategies, and insights effectively to internal and external stakeholders, including Metcash and IHG Joint Venture group board members.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure adherence to financial regulations, internal controls, and risk management practices. Oversee audits and manage financial risk.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a CFO or in a senior financial management role, with an ASX Listed organisation.
  • Extensive leadership experience with a large, complex Retail organisation including B2B and B2C responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of financial and operational strategies, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and drive performance (team of 50+).
  • Advanced knowledge of financial regulations, risk management, and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • CPA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
  • AICD qualifications (or prepared to undertake).
