Head of Commercial | Retail Network

Reporting to the General Manager, Commercial, this is an exciting opportunity to take on a senior leadership role with a network of 600+ stores and 4,000 employees.

The business model for retail encompasses both wholly owned and Joint Venture businesses. The role will ensure financial management disciplines across business performance, working capital, cash flow and investment opportunities for sustained growth. In addition, the role will take on responsibility for procurement and facilities management.

As a key leader of the Commercial Team, you will be responsible for:
  • Drive the Retail Network financial planning across income statement, working capital / balance sheet and cashflow
  • Assess and recommendation for investment opportunities for retail network; facilitating an Investment Committee for allocation of competing investment opportunities.
  • Partner with General Manager – Retail Network and retail group General Managers to drive financial performance.
  • Partner with General Manager – Retail Network in the management of Joint Venture partners
  • Lead team of Commercial Managers & Business Analyst; upskilling and creating a network to improve knowledge and business performance.
  • Establish Loss Prevention Strategy across the Retail Network.
  • Lead the development of a Procurement function across Retail Network, exploring opportunities to bring greater value to the broader Retail Network.
  • Partner with Strategic Growth team on acquisition and investment / divestments.
  • Partner with Group Property, Finance and other key stakeholders to ensure continued strength of Retail Network
Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate:
  • Tertiary level qualification in relevant field (e.g. Accounting, Finance or Business or CA/CPA)
  • Understanding of operational systems and processes (e.g. SAP, Power Enterprise financials, ERP)
  • Knowledge of FMCG industry and the end to end supply lifecycle (e.g. vendor/warehouse/hardware/retail/wholesale/independents)
  • Knowledge of management accounting
  • Understanding of data driven insights generation
  • Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Taxation Law
  • Understanding of The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission requirements
