Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Design Manager and working closely with the Creative Director, this role will be accountable for the seasonal apparel ranges through range development and design, providing innovative and inspiring fashion for Blue Illusion customers by identifying and interpreting key trends and following the creative direction and strategy.
- In collaboration with the Design team, develop seasonal trends using styling, prints, colour palette and pattern changes
- Manage the garment development process from concept to production
- Select and approve lab dibs, qualities and trims
- Source new designs & develop new concepts
- Best use of fabric and investigation of new fabric technologies
- Adapt ranges for different stores and research the market for niche areas of opportunity
- Ensure accurate and timely communication with all stakeholders (Design, Production, Planning Marketing and Logistics) along with building relationships with Retail Managers to gain feedback where applicable
- Weekly store visits, interstate and overseas travel as required by the CEO/Creative Director
Requirements
To be successful in this role you will hold:
- Full collection design experience across a broad range of categories (essential)
- Experience in designing patterns, prints, and hands-on colour changing
- A minimum of 7 years design experience
- The ability to create and/or manipulate graphic artworks digitally
- Fashion design and garment construction qualifications
- Strong computer skills in MS office, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Outstanding communication skills and time management
- Creativity and exceptional eye for design and detail
- Experience in interpreting design direction
- High quality design and product standards
- Trend research and colour forecasting skills
- A collaborative style of working within a team environment
