Port of Melbourne Operations Pty Ltd as the Trustee for the Port of Melbourne Trust (Port of Melbourne) is the manager of the Port of Melbourne, Australia’s largest container and automotive port.
 
Operating under a lease granted by the Victorian Government, Port of Melbourne’s assets under management include significant port land, wharves and channels servicing one of the nation’s key trade gateways.
 
The Opportunity
 
An excellent career opportunity is now available in this newly created role to provide high level support to the Commercial Team and to the Executive General Manager (EGM) Commercial, particularly in enhancing the Team’s performance in seeking to grow revenue through business development, optimise property returns and manage stakeholders.
  
Reporting to the newly appointed EGM Commercial, you will work with and support the Commercial Team’s 3 business units – Business Development, Property and Corporate Affairs in supporting the team to achieve its objectives.  The Commercial Team Coordinator will understand the customers and stakeholders of the business and will coordinate the work of members of the Commercial Team to help deliver high performance outcomes.  The role will play a pivotal part in delivering outstanding customer service by the Commercial Team.
 
This role works across the Team to coordinate and help administer the delivery of key project milestones, stakeholder and customer events, administrative procedures and commercial documents inclusive of Board papers and stakeholder/customer presentations.
 
Divisional support will include working closely with the Team in the coordination, review and formatting process of Board papers, business plans and reports.  Perform a range of administrative tasks; adopting procedures, guidelines, policies and business practices to maximise the efficiency and productivity of the Team.  Undertake project work / activities for the managers within the Team.  
 
Stakeholder and Events Coordination will include supporting the Corporate Relations team in the planning and coordination of key stakeholder activities inclusive of community, sister ports, customer and industry events as well as provide administration / systems support for the CRM system.
 
In addition, you will contribute to organisational and strategic objectives.
 
With outstanding inter-personal and communication skills, you will have the ability to work closely with the Executive and broader team members to help the business achieve its business objectives and be highly outcome focused. Externally, you will liaise with State and Federal Government Departments and Agencies as well as highly valued customers, tenants and industry representatives.
 
 
Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will be degree qualified and demonstrate a track record of success as an adviser to an Executive.  Excellent written and verbal communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills, including discretion and diplomacy.  Well-developed business writing skills. Proven ability to perform under pressure; ability to analyse, problem-solve, plan and operate autonomously. Demonstrated initiative in completing projects to tight deadlines and the flexibility to handle constantly changing priorities. Excellent Microsoft Office and an intermediate level of competency using Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint including a high attention to detail.
